The CMCSS Special Populations Department will continue its Family Engagement Sessions for the 2025-26 school year, beginning with an overview of services. On Thursday, September 18, 2025, the department will host the first event at the William O. Beach Civic Hall (350 Pageant Lane, Clarksville) from Noon to 1:15 p.m. and again from 5:45 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The event is free and open to any family with questions regarding unique learning needs within CMCSS. Families can choose to attend three of the five topics of interest below.

You should have received information regarding the required beginning-of-the-year forms related to your student. If you have not yet submitted these forms online, please complete them as soon as possible. In addition to updating important contact and medical information for school, these annual forms are required for students to receive a laptop.

The forms are available in PowerSchool, CMCSS’ student information system. Please log in to https://powerschool.cmcss.net/ and select the “Forms” menu option. Each form must be completed. Once completed, the form will display “Submitted” with a green check on the main Forms page. If you have the PowerSchool mobile app, you can click on “More” and then choose “Forms” to access your child’s forms. 

If you need assistance with your username or password, please click the “Forgot Username or Password?” link on the PowerSchool login page. If you are still unable to access PowerSchool or need additional assistance with completing the forms, you can contact the school front office during regular school hours or email [email protected].

The Technology Department transitioned electronic forms to PowerSchool so that families can complete the forms all in one secure place. We apologize for some of the challenges with this launch, and the Technology Department has worked diligently to make improvements. Thank you, and we look forward to a great school year!

Youth Leadership Clarksville invites your students to apply for the premier, local leadership program. Youth Leadership Clarksville is the oldest, most comprehensive program for students to learn about the community in which they live and to learn the leadership skills necessary to excel in their next steps, whether that be college or career. YLC is open to rising sophomores, juniors and seniors. National Summer Transportation Institute (NSTI)

About NSTI:

When: Weekdays from July 7th through August 1st.
Where: Middle Tennessee State University
Lodging and meals: Provided as part of the program

The objective of NSTI is to provide high school students with an awareness of transportation careers, enhance STEM skills, and encourage students to consider a transportation-related major. The program is administered by the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) and funded by the Federal Highway Administration at no cost to participants.

NSTI Program Curriculum:

The MTSU program will be hosted on the MTSU campus with faculty and MTSU students-led activities involving autonomous vehicles, drones, application of computer vision in transportation, traffic network simulation, and more. Participants will learn about transportation-related career opportunities from invited talks given by transportation professionals and field trips to nearby transportation agencies and museums.

Application Package Requirements:

3. One letter of recommendation from a school counselor
4. One letter of recommendation from a STEM (computer science, mathematics, pre-engineering, or science) teacher
5. One-page typed essay describing the student’s interest in STEM and, more specifically, in engineering and transportation.

Tennova Healthcare – Clarksville seeks VolunTeens for Summer

Tennova Healthcare – Clarksville is seeking Youth Volunteers, known as VolunTeens, for the summer 2025 program. Young people between the ages of 14 and 18 and currently in high school may apply. A minimum of 20 applicants will be accepted for one of our one-week sessions, on June 2-6 or July 14-18. Teens must participate in all 5 days of the program, with students attending 8AM- 4PM each day.

We will also be accepting applications for an exclusive summer long

(June & July) session for Juniors and Seniors. Applicants must be able to commit to 40 scheduled volunteer hours over the summer.

Teens must complete and return the electronic application packet by April 21. Incomplete applications will be removed from consideration. Those selected will be notified via email and must attend a mandatory orientation as noted in their acceptance email. The Summit STEM Fellowship

The Summit STEM Fellowship is a virtual summer program taught by Harvard, Stanford, and MIT graduates. Through the program, students explore different opportunities and diverse career pathways in STEM. The fellowship is a flexible 10-15 hour weekly commitment, and students may participate alongside other summer commitments. The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System will host the Teach with the Best Hiring Event on Tuesday, March 25, at 4:00 p.m. Applicants who hold a current TN Teaching License or are actively pursuing a TN Teaching License are invited to attend. The event will be held at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center in Clarksville, and interested candidates are encouraged to register for the event here.

CMCSS is looking to fill nearly 100 teaching positions at over 40 schools. While available teaching positions exist in almost every school, high-needs areas include Special Education, elementary teachers, secondary math and science, and school counselors. While at the job fair, interested applicants can meet school administrators and learn more about the school culture. From 4:00 – 5:30 p.m., attendees will have an open session to network and make connections. School administrators will host interviews from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., and principals may set up interviews on the spot.

As the district continues to grow, so will the need for dedicated high-quality teachers. In 2023, with the support of the CMCSS School Board, Montgomery County Commission, and the community, the district implemented a mid-year, 5% pay increase for all employees.

Applications are now open for current 11th and 12th grade students to apply to join the Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) Student Engagement Council. Engagement councils provide the TDOE with input, feedback, and recommendations on the implementation of strategic initiatives and programs. The councils have no legislative, administrative, or programmatic authority.

The Student Engagement Council meets virtually once a month to collaborate with the department to move our state and its students forward. Students will serve for a five-month term from January 2025 – May 2025. The first meeting will be held on January 30, 2025. All subsequent meetings will take place from 3:30-4:30 p.m. CT on the Thursdays of the second full week each month.

Current 11th-grade and 12th-grade students who are passionate about K-12 education in Tennessee are encouraged to apply.

The following Points of Pride were awarded during the School Board formal meeting in September 2024.

TSSAA Girls Wrestling Coach of the Year

Each year, TSSAA selects top coaches from across the state who develop character and teach strategies for skill development and strategic thinking. There are approximately 6,000 coaches in TSSAA with over 100,000 student-athletes. Coach Doug Badon from Clarksville High was selected as the 2023-2024 TSSAA Girls Wrestling Coach of the Year. Congratulations, Coach Badon, and thank you for everything you do for the Lady Wildcats!

Perfect ACT Score

Cade Deterding from Rossview High School was named a 2025 National Merit Scholarship semifinalist. Last semester, Cade was also awarded for earning a perfect ACT score of 36. (He was one of only 0.3% of students across the nation to achieve this perfect ACT score.) This year, over 1.3 million juniors entered the program, and Cade was one of the only 1% of students selected as a semifinalist. We are all cheering for you, Cade, and look forward to your finalist announcement in the coming months.

National Football League (NFL) Latino Excellence in Youth Football Award

Leilyn Mercado from West Creek High School was selected as the Tennessee Titans representative for the NFL’s Latino Excellence in Youth Football award. She is a senior at West Creek High who plays forward for the girls’ soccer team and linebacker/defensive back for flag football team. Leilyn is one of only 32 female student-athletes in the entire country to be chosen for this award for making an impact on the playing field and in the classroom by achieving a high-level of academic success. Congratulations, Leilyn, on this outstanding achievement!
