Hi there! I'm Mrs. Jennifer Taylor and I teach the first two classes within our 4-year Academy of Media Arts & Technology program: Digital Arts I and Digital Arts II. Before transitioning into education, I spent over a decade as a marketing leader and strategist within high-growth software and technology companies in Nashville and Denver. My background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communications, a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies with a minor in Japanese from the University of Tennessee at Martin, and a Master of Business Administration from Bethel University. I’ve had the pleasure of guest lecturing at CU Boulder on business communications and digital marketing and teaching social media management and website design as an Adjunct Instructor at UT Martin. I am delighted to bring my experience and passion for design into the classroom. I am excited about the year ahead and look forward to sharing my passion for design with my students!

Digital Arts I is a foundational course where students build a strong understanding of the principles and elements of design and the design process. Digital Arts II builds on the basic principles and design process learned in the introductory course, incorporating advanced software operations to create photographs and illustrations of increasing complexity. Students will employ design principles and use industry software to create layouts for a variety of applications.

Our program aims to prepare students for the dynamic and ever-evolving world of art and design. The courses offered through AMAT are designed to be fun, engaging, and appropriately challenging. Throughout the year, students will explore the fundamentals of design through a variety of activities, including presentations, videos, technical demonstrations, group and individual projects, and discussions. They will apply what they learn to create unique digital and print products, engage in critical analysis of visual media, and participate in real-world projects typical of art and design professions. Assessments will include quizzes, exams, and project-based evaluations to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the material.

The AMAT program also offers students numerous opportunities to get involved. Students can join SkillsUSA to compete in regional and state competitions, earn college credit in Digital Graphic Design, and become industry-certified in Adobe Illustrator. Additionally, AMAT students enjoy an annual field trip that is both educational and fun—fully funded by our program.
